Black T-shirt with dragon pattern
A round insignia with embroidery of a crane was attached to the chest, back, and shoulders of officials’ uniform during the Joseon Dynasty (1391~1910) in Korea. Animals such as the crane, tiger, dragon, and phoenix were used to identify the wearer’s social status. Single or double cranes were used for civil servants depending on the rank and tigers were used for military officials. Royal robes and officials’ uniforms show highly refined craftsmanship and textile techniques.
